Welcome to HSAEL

The school is determined to ensure its pupils receive the best education. Ofsted, June 2025

Top 25 schools nationally for year-on-year improvement.

Disadvantaged student outcomes in top 12.5% of the UK.

HSAEL Parent (February 2025): “The Academy has shown time and time again how much it truly cares about every single pupil and them achieving the best. I am very proud that my child gets to attend this school.”

Congratulations on securing a place at Harris Science Academy East London. I am looking forward to meeting you and your family and welcoming you into our very special community. I have been the Principal of this wonderful Academy since February 2023 and am proud of the progress we have made. This is just the beginning, and your child is set to join us at an exciting time as we become the best school in Newham by 2028.

Our mission is for every child to be a leader in their chosen field, with the opportunity to be leaders in STEM. We know that young people from Newham and Tower Hamlets have huge potential, and it is our responsibility to ensure they have the qualifications and the character to make a positive contribution to their community.

This is no ordinary school. We use research and national best practice to do things differently and we are very proud of what we do. Our values of GRACE (growth, responsibility, ambition, compassion, and excellence) underpin everything at the Academy, and we have a relentless focus on doing the basics well every day. This means:

  1. Reinforcing our mission of graceful leadership
  1. Ensuring exemplary behaviour because we are a community who does the right thing.
  1. Providing a uniquely academic curriculum for every child.
  1. Offering regular and varied opportunities for character development.

You will receive lots of information over the coming months to support the transition to secondary school. Our primary method of communication with you will be via our transition newsletter, which can be accessed on our Academy website. This will also be shared in our Whatsapp community channel. I am sure that you and your child will have lots of questions and there will be some nerves, but rest assured we will be there to support you and your family, so your child has a seamless start in September.
