Ofsted Information

The Academy is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded an 'Outstanding' in our Ofsted Inspection in June 2025.

  • Leadership and Management: Outstanding

  • Behaviour and Attitudes: Outstanding

  • Quality of Education: Outstanding

  • Personal Development: Outstanding

  • Sixth Form: Good

You can read the report in full on the Ofsted page for our Academy here. This is a fantastic result by any means, but particularly impressive given that the predecessor school was graded ‘inadequate’ overall just three years ago. The transformation of Harris Science Academy East London has been rapid, moving from the bottom 4% of schools in the UK to the top 16% in less than 3 years.

Do please take some time to read the report in full, but I have included some highlights below:

  • The school is determined to ensure its pupils receive the best education.
  • The school has developed a highly ambitious curriculum... pupils learn the curriculum extremely well.
  • The school provides an exceptional quality of education.
  • Behaviour in lessons and around the school is exemplary. Pupils are kind.
  • Character development runs through all that happens at this school.
  • Teachers quickly address any misconceptions.
  • Pupils with SEND are supported to learn the curriculum well.
  • The school's high expectations are well-understood by all and cultivate a highly positive learning environment.
  • One of the exceptional strengths of this school is the attention and care put into supporting every pupil as an individual and nurturing their future ambitions.
  • Leadership at all levels has worked extremely effectively to transform the experiences of pupils at this school rapidly.

Our Principal Dan MacPherson said: "This report marks an important point on our improvement journey. Be assured, however, that this does not mark the end of our transformation. When I arrived at the Academy in March 2023, I promised the community that this Academy would be the best in Newham by 2028 and one of the best schools in the country.

This report shows that this aim is realistic, and we are making very good progress in securing this objective for your children. The coming years promise to be exciting, as we further consolidate our work to support your children to become leaders in their chosen field."
