We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Sir Jack Petchey CBE. His has done so much to over the years support young people in education in London and Essex, including so many of our own students. Long may his good work continue. https://t.co/MR3hPuk7az

From September 2022, our school will become part of the Harris Federation. Harris has a track record of delivering high standard GCSE and A-Level results, which opens doors for many of our students to go onto study at prestigious Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

In 2021, 24% of the Federation’s year 13s secured places at Russell Group institutions, compared to the national average of 12%. Similarly, last year 44 pupils from Harris schools across London and Essex were awarded places at either Oxford or Cambridge, demonstrating how the Federation’s outstanding teaching empowers our young people to reach their full academic potential.

Another aspect of the Federation’s unique offer is the Harris Experience, a five-year programme that aims to broaden the academic and cultural experiences of our most able pupils. In years 9-11, the programme aims to increase the cultural capital of our students and provide them with stimulating academic experiences such as trips to exhibitions and classical concerts. The programme also has a separate sixth form phase that prepares students for further study by through initiatives such as tutoring and campus visits.

Previous students from our school have gone on to study at a number of prestigious institutions including the London School of Economics (LSE), Queen Mary University of London, Goldsmiths and Aberystwyth Universities. Students from our 2021-22 cohort have gone on to study courses as diverse as Medical Science, Computer Science, Mathematics and Politics, Philosophy and Economics, demonstrating how our high quality sixth form offer prepares studies excellently for a continuation of their studies at top universities.

Overall, Harris Science Academy East London’s sixth form is an excellent springboard towards university education, academic success and a successful career. Get in touch with us today and help shape your future.
