Leadership Development Time

The aim of Leadership Development Time (LDT) is to helps students grow and appreciate their responsibilities as citizens through our exploration of Relationships education, British values and citizenship. It will also provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills to make positive contribution to the local and global community.

We help our students grow in empathy and compassion via sessions on appreciation and respect of the Diversity and Equality in our communities.  We encourage our students to nurture a sense of responsibility and compassion for themselves and others by exploring all aspects of physical and mental health, how to help themselves and those at risk and how to keep themselves safe on- and offline.

We promote ambition, responsibility and excellence in all students’ aspirations for their personal relationships with others, as future employees or entrepreneurs. We explore the positive effects that good relationships have on our mental wellbeing, identify when relationships are not right and understand what to do when that happens. Alongside this, it is important for them to know how diet and exercise choices impact our lifestyle and general well-being. LDT at HSAEL will help students to understand these areas and start to unpick their own place in a wider world

Within this time we also look at what makes an effective leader through bespoke sessions on leadership and the skills students need to change the world!

Each term is themed around effective and responsible leadership:

Autumn 1: All leaders show respect and responsibility in intimate relationships.

Autumn 2: All Leaders nurture good physical and mental wellbeing in themselves and others.

Spring 1: All leaders develop and proactively use life skills and social networks to productive ends.

Spring 2: All leaders exploit the power of the present to leverage future success.

Summer 1: All leaders understand the importance and benefits of financial responsibility and planning.

Summer 2: All leaders can leverage their strengths and develop their talent to be at the forefront of their chosen specialism
