Principal's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to the official website of Harris Science Academy East London (HSAEL). HSAEL is a new, small school with big ambitions. We are a co-educational secondary academy and Sixth Form with a mission to provide children in this part of East London with a truly world-class education. We are committed to helping every child leave the Academy with the academic currency and good character to become a leader in their chosen field and to make a positive change in their community.

This is no ordinary school, and we are very proud of that. Situated in an eclectic array of buildings next to the renowned Three Mills Studios (location of BBC’s Masterchef) amongst the iconic East London canal network, this is a unique setting to provide a life changing education for the children of East London.

I joined the school in April 2023 from an outstanding academy in Southeast London that, over five years, become one of the top performing schools in the UK. I have worked in comprehensive, selective, state, and private schools since joining the profession in 2012. With my team, I have the knowledge, skills, and experience to deliver this exciting vision for your child.

The school’s mission guides everything we do. We talk about it constantly and continually reflect on how we are doing. We teach children how to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner and to ‘be the best versions of themselves’. Our curriculum is stimulating and challenging, and our teachers are, across the board, experts in their subjects. Our approach to pastoral care means every student feels safe and can learn, and our timetable is packed with trips, talks, clubs, and activities that make the most of our location close to the centre of London

Harris Science Academy East London joined the Harris Federation in September 2022. The Harris Federation is the most successful multi-academy trust in the UK and the only large multi-academy trust where disadvantaged children outperformed non-disadvantaged children nationally in 2022. All the academies in the Federation are good or outstanding. The Federation is very experienced in supporting schools through periods of transition and it has invested significantly in upgrades to the Academy’s IT and buildings. The sector-leading consultant network supports teachers to deliver an exceptional education to the Academy’s students. Proximity with nearby outstanding Harris Chobham Academy and Harris Academy Tottenham gives the Academy’s students and teachers additional opportunities for networking and sharing of facilities.
