World Book Day

World Book Day

For this year's World Book Day students came dressed in grand designs from the Tin Man to the Smurfs to George Orwell. But in the spirit of KS4 support, our little school in Bromley-by-Bow was transformed into Sunny Scotland under the tyrannical Macbeth. Our morning line up was rudely interrupted by three witches (Also known as Ms Whyte, Ms Krauze and Ms Wake) calling out prophecies before  cackling and scattering. Our Good King Duncan (Mr MacPherson) called the realm to order quickly, but was tragically murdered by the fiendish and cloaked Mr Ansel.

After lunch and an endless stream of questions from students about what would come next, Mr Kelly took the stand to share his own fears about blood, guilt and terror before demanding an I Say you Say of "Hail Macbeth" to rapturous applause from the, apparently very loyal, Scottish audience of students. Year 11 were overtaken by this, descending into ghosts darting around the lines under white sheets to haunt our Macbeth. Ms Wake valiantly called us to order again, interrupted once more by the wailing Lady Macbeth (Ms Oni) sleep walking amongst the students before taking the mic and nearly collapsing with the terror of her guilt ridden nightmares. The applause nearly rocked the building, with students on their tip toes to see the theatre unfolding before them.
