I am delighted to welcome you to the official website of Harris Science Academy East London.
We are a co-educational secondary academy and Sixth Form with a mission to provide children in this part of East London with a truly world-class education.
It is a real privilege to lead our wonderful academy. Our school has big ambitions. We believe that every student, regardless of their starting point, can go on to become a leader in their chosen field if given a rigorous, traditional academic education alongside a personal development programme that instils confidence and independence. We do things differently to fulfil this mission. We are proud to have some of the best teachers in the country at our academy who, with warmth, pride and high expectations, support all students to make the difference every single day.
This is no ordinary school, and we are very proud of that. We are a truly inclusive school where every student is known, celebrated and supported to achieve their potential on our eclectic campus setting next to the renowned Three Mills Studios (location of BBC’s Masterchef). The school site has a historic setting and sits amongst the iconic East London canal network. The Academy is set to grow further as we move into state-of-the-art facilities in West Ham.
I joined the academy in January 2024 from an outstanding academy in South East London that, over five years, became one of the top performing schools in the UK. I have worked in inner-city, comprehensive schools since joining the profession in 2014. Since HSAEL joined the Harris Federation, it has been transformed in every respect, with Ofsted concluding that this school provides an ‘exceptional’ education to students. As of 2026, we are amongst the top performing schools in London and are working to become one of the best in the country by 2028. As a school community, we are incredibly proud of our students, the communities we serve and our achievements as a staff body. I am very excited about what the future holds.
